VON
MISES STRESS SIMULATION AND SAFETY FACTOR ANALYSIS FACTOR OF A GANTRY CRANE WITH A CAPACITY OF 3 TONNES
ABSTRACT
This study aims to
determine the distribution of von Mises stress and the safety factor of gantry
cranes. The structural material was
AISI 4340 steel, and the hook material was cast iron ASTM Grade 60. Gantry cranes were drawn
using Autodesk Inventor 2014 and simulated using Comsol Multiphysics. The
loading position given on the hook
were 0,85 m, 1 m, and 1,15m. The load given was 29.420 N. The results showed
that The loading position of
0.85 m and the 3.39 x 108 N/m2 generated the highest von Mises
stress value. lowest resulted from the
loading position of 1 m at 2.85 x 108 N/m2.
